Anderson, South Carolina, has been disability-friendly for a long time. In fact the movie "Radio" was inspired by an outreach effort in Anderson.

Many local schools and agencies have joined with Walgreens in this hiring outreach.
Partners in the community
The local effort is co-ordinated by:
- Anderson County Disabilities and Special Needs Board. This board serves people with cognitive and intellectual disabilities.
- South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department, Anderson Office. This department serves people with a wide range of disabilities, including physical and mental health conditions.
These two agencies will also lead the work tryouts at the distribution center.

Transportation
The City of Anderson runs some buses during the day, but the routes do not extend to the distribution center. There is no regional transit system.
There are however, some other transport options.
Housing
Anderson offers many kinds of housing. There are older homes on tree-lined streets and new homes in the suburbs. There are also starter homes, apartments, condominiums, and farmhouses.

- There is a long waiting list for group housing.
