General Warehouse Worker

The General Warehouse Worker is an hourly position. In all distribution centers, people are hired as General Warehouse Workers and then assigned to departments based on the current needs of the building.

Receiving

People working in receiving generally operate lift trucks and other equipment to remove product from vendor's trucks and make sure it is checked into the distribution center.

 

Stocking

In some distribution centers, restocking the areas where pickers work is done by a general warehouse worker. This job entails accurately placing cases of product in designated locations and removing the tops of the boxes.

 

Shipper/Loader

In the shipping department, workers stack totes and cases of product in trucks for delivery to the stores.

 

Location Control

General warehouse workers also help with inventory control by ensuring that the available storage in the distribution center is used efficiently and effectively.

 

Function Lead

Function Leads assist Function Managers in the day to day management of a department. Leads help to train and trouble shoot with team members within their department.
