Updates from Anderson

The Anderson Distribution Center (DC) is quickly filling with merchandise to prepare for the next big step… Shipping, which will begin April 2, 2007.

Between January 22 and February 5, 26 individuals who trained at the Anderson Training Center started in positions in Receiving. These individuals are in a Transitional Work Group (TWG) that allows them 45 days to adjust to this new work environment and experience what it is like to work at the DC full time. The TWG in Anderson is designed for individuals who have proven that they can learn how to do the jobs proficiently at the Training Center. Job coaches from partner agencies have accompanied the TWG participants to the DC and are assisting with the transition.

Three individuals have already successfully completed a Transitional Work Group. They started their TWG on January 15 after completing training in an enclave. These three gentlemen started employment with Walgreens on February 26.

With over 150 employees at the Anderson DC, about 48% have disclosed that they have a disability.
